WEST POINT, Miss. (Press Release) — Another one of the alleged perpetrators of the assault on a local man has been arrested and charged by the West Point Police Department. 20-year-old Marquavious McMillian of Aberdeen, Ms. was charged today in the Huddle House assault that left one man seriously injured.

Police are not saying if Marquavious is related to Courtez McMillian, who was arrested and charged early this week in connection with the same incident. McMillian was formally charged with aggravated assault. He has been transported to the Clay County Detention Center. Bond was set at $250,000.

The investigation is ongoing, and witnesses are still being interviewed.

“The hate crime enhancement will be determined when the grand jury convenes in October,” West Point Police Chief Tim Brinkley said.

The Grand Jury is the body that decides whether to add the enhancement.

The WPPD is being assisted in the investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI). The District Attorney’s Office has already been briefed on the case.

“Also assisting in the investigation is the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and the Aberdeen Police Department,” Brinkley said. “As this investigation continues we will utilize every available agency and resource to bring the perpetrators of this crime to justice.”

This case is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-530-7151 or the West Point Police Department at 662-494-1244.
