Bruce Employees May Get Pay Raise

BRUCE, Miss. (WCBI) — Bruce city employees may get a pay raise. But the city will have to dip into reserves to pay for it.

Aldermen tentatively have approved a 1 point 5 million spending plan for next year that includes the 3 percent raise. The budget doesn’t require a tax increase but takes $171,000 from reserves to balance it.

Police Chief Stan Evans will get a 16 percent raise and the city judge, prosecutor and city attorney also will get increases.

If approved without changes after a public hearing Sept. 4, the plan takes effect Oct. 1.
