BRUCE, Miss. (WCBI) — Trouble in someone’s past may keep them from getting a job with the city of Bruce.

This week, aldermen authorized Mayor Robert Oakley and City Attorney Jim Beckett to draw up a policy requiring background checks for future part- and full-time city employees.

Oakley recommended the policy to make sure the city is aware of possible problems in employees’ backgrounds. The city discussed developing the policy three years ago but never followed through.
