Busy But Safe New Years On Highways

The Mississippi  Highway Patrol concluded its New Year’s enforcement period which began Thursday, December 31, at 6 p.m. and ended Friday, January 1 at midnight. MHP issued 3035 citations with 84 DUI arrests. 79 motor vehicle crashes were investigated which included 19 injuries with no fatalities on state, federal highways, and interstates. This successful traffic enforcement period should be attributed to safe driving by motorists and efforts by local, county, and state law enforcement officers across Mississippi.
