Calhoun County Offers Back to School Blessing

CALHOUN COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — School is back in session for many, and Calhoun County churches are praying for their students and families as the new school year kicks off.

It was a time of worship, prayer, preaching and preparing students.

The Calhoun County churches united organization hosted the back to school blessing for members of the community as a time to unite.

” Our people here in the county are very supportive all across the faith and they feel like faith and belief is very important and that helps us be a driving force to stand up for the morals and rights of all of our individuals and especially the students, ” said Donald Pendergrast, the Headmaster of Calhoun Academy.

Organizers say no matter the denomination or race, its important to come together for one purpose.

As part of the back to school blessing, participants brought necessary school items as an offering to be divided between the four Calhoun county schools.

“We all together are blessing students, blessing teachers, blessing parents and making us aware of the importance of working together and supporting teachers and education in our county,” said Sister Judy Sinwell.

As the program wrapped up, participants committed to continue their daily prayer for students and faculty of area schools.

The CCCU plan to return the back to school blessing next year.
