Candidates Continue To Qualify For 1st Congressional Seat

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Candidates continue to join the First Congressional District special election race.

Tupelo attorney Greg Pirkle and Columbus businessman Boyce Adams have announced their candidacy.

Chip Mills of Fulton, Danny Bedwell of Columbus, State Senator Nancy Collins of Tupelo, district attorney Trent Kelly of Saltillo and attorney Quentin Whitwell of Oxford have also qualified to run.

The nonpartisan election will be May 12th.

The winner will serve most of a two-year term that ends in January 2017.
