CCS Slates Adolescent Opportunity Program Run/Walk and Educational Rally

OKTIBBEHA, Miss. (Press Release) — Community Counseling Service’s Adolescent Opportunity Program this weekend for a Neon Run-Walk and Educational Rally. The Adolescent Opportunity Program (AOP) is a program that was started by West Point Youth Court Judge Tom Storey many years ago that seeks to provide youth with leadership and counseling and education for families. AOP serves as a liaison between schools, the community, individuals and their family. AOP Staff strive to motivate individuals and coordinate services while utilizing community resources to assist with the reduction of at risk youth being placed in state custody.

Oktibbeha County AOP Coordinator, Shareka Jefferson believes, “We are not only improving life skills, academic standing, behavior and attitudes, but we are improving the future – one child at a time.”

Oktibbeha County’s AOP Program is sponsoring a Neon Run-Walk and Educational Rally April 26 in efforts to raise money and awareness about the program. Funds will be used to contribute to their educational goals and any vocational training the youth may need assistance with in order to obtain independent living skills. Registration for the Run-Walk will begin at 8 a.m. April 26 and the race starts at 9 a.m. that same day. There will be a DJ and door prizes given out. Participants are encouraged to wear neon or retro apparel.
