Center Serving Disabled Kids to Close

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — A center for disabled children in Lee County is closing its doors.

McDougal Center will close at the end of the school year, after more than 40 years of service.

In a statement from Lee County and Tupelo Schools, plus LifeCore Health Group, participation outside of the county has declined.

Officials say the districts have been able to serve the students in their home schools, instead of having them bused long distances to the McDougal Center.

The school districts say they hope the move will improve the services these kids receive.
