COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — A non-profit organization hosted a Character Education workshop for kids of all ages on the MUW campus this Saturday.

Committed To Character, or C2C, focuses on teaching students the importance of character and caring in their lives.

The program is designed to teach lessons that aren’t taught in the classrooms.

Several leadership speakers were on hand for the event and they coached the students in different sessions.

One Columbus native, who came back to his hometown for the event, says it is important to be a positive role model for the students.

“They are happy to have people that grew up in the same environment they have. They see a lot of things on television that, people they’ve never seen, never heard of but being back, it gives them someone to look up to from within, from Columbus, Mississippi,” said Lawrence Brown, a guest leadership speaker.

Columbus native, Miss Mississippi 2014, Jasmine Murray was also a guest speaker.
