Children Remembered at Amory Service

AMORY, Miss. (WCBI) — The boys loved Spiderman, fishing and swimming. The daughter played dress up. And, 1 year old Elaine Marie gave hugs and kisses to everyone she met.

These are the stories from the memorial service for the grandchildren of Timothy Jones Sr. and Julie Jones, told as a slide show shared photographs of the five Jones children in happier times.

It was only two months ago that the older children were at the Church of Christ in Amory for Vacation Bible School.

Today the sanctuary of mourners included the Jones grandparents, uncles, aunt, extended family and church members.

Hundreds of balloons were released by family and friends to conclude the service.  The Jones family hugged friends and thanked them for coming to remember the children.

The bodies of the children, ages 1 to 8, were found Tuesday in rural Alabama. Their father, 32-year old Timothy Jones, Jr. stands accused of their murders.

Jones lived in Mississippi for a time, graduating from Mississippi State University, before moving his family to South Carolina for an engineering job.
