MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The price tag for the Christmas Day flood in Monroe County is becoming more clear.

Monroe County Administrator Sonny Clay estimates the costs to the county to be about $100,000.

Clay says that amount won’t break the county’s budget but some cost saving measures may eventually have to be put in place.

Amory Mayor Brad Blalock says the city is working with the Monroe County Emergency Management Agency to come up with an estimate on damage costs.

EMA Director Bunky Goza tells WCBI the estimates are necessary to make sure the proper paperwork is given to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency in case the county is added to a disaster declaration.

25 roads in Monroe County received major damage, 75 had minor damage, and there was also damage to the Mississippian Railroad infrastructure.
