(CHARLESTON, MS) WCBI -Efforts to ban the sale of caffeine pills to minors failed in the Mississippi legislature this year but the bills sponsor says cities and counties can do it on their own.
Representative Tommy Reynolds of Water Valley wanted to restrict the sale of caffeine pills and stimulants to people over 18. That in response to the death of Water Valley High Student Noah Smith after taking the pills.  Noah’s Law as it was known passed the House but died in the Senate.  That’s when Reynolds asked Attorney General Jim Hood if  cities and counties could ban the sale on their own without a state law in place.  In an opinion just released Hood says placing age restrictions on the pills wold be legal for cities and counties to do on their own.
