STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)-A preliminary report has been filed to the Mississippi Ethics Commission on the city of Starkville. The report was filed by a Starkville resident that says the city of Starkville violated three sections of state code in failing to keep minutes for public meetings, provide proper notice of meetings, and strictly comply with the Open Meetings Act. The report is in response to a complaint that at a meeting in July violated state code by not taking minutes of the board of alderman’s January retreat as well as other board committee meetings. No objections were filed from the city about preliminary findings. The official report has not been filed yet.
