Video: Citywide WiFi Service Almost Complete
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – The first phase of a project that eventually will lead to city-wide WI-FI service in Starkville is almost complete.
Crews are expected to finish laying fiber optic lines from the city’s operations center to its southwest Starkville substation. That will allow the electric department to start implementing an automated meter reading system that will allow customers to track their electricity use in real time. The city then plans to add another loop through Mississippi State University that will pave the way for Wi-Fi service throughout the city. The total project is expected to take about three years.
