Clay County Murder Conviction Reversed

JACKSON, MS (WCBI) -A Columbus woman will get a new trial in connection with a 2012 murder.

A Clay County jury convicted Shunbrica Roby in the stabbing death of Marcus Payne outside of a West Point deli.  Today the Mississippi Supreme Court threw out that conviction saying the jury instructions given in the case were improper.  The high court said those instructions said jurors could consider the acts of one defendant as being acts of all of the three people charged in the case. The justices said that each defendant must be tried on their own merit.  The case will now be sent back to Clay County for a new trial.
