CLAY/UNION COUNTIES, Miss. (WCBI) — It’s expensive to take justice on the road.

For a three-day murder trial last month, Clay County is paying $6,987.47 for moving a trial to Union County.

Court officials in both counties say it would have cost far more if the jury had been put up in hotels at night.

The jury deliberated just 20 minutes before finding Tavaris Collins guilty of murder in the death of 16-year-old Devin Mitchell in West Point on New Year’s morning in 2012.
