Clayton Village Utility Receives Recognition
STARKVILLE, Miss. — Last week (March 25-28) the president of the Clayton Village Water Association Board of Directors, the general manager of CVWA, some of the board members of the CVWA, and the CVWA operator went to the 2013 Mississippi Rural Water Association’s Annual Management & Technical Conference and Exhibition in Jackson, MS at the MS Trade Mart Building. Because of our nomination by Cliff Russell, our association was chosen out of the almost 1,250 MS rural water associations to be awarded a certificate of recognition. The certificate, which was presented to our representatives on March 26, 2013, is in recognition of maintaining a highly successful and sustainable water system and demonstrating exceptional management as evidenced by our financial and technical reports. The certificate states, “You are commended for providing safe, sanitary, dependable water to rural communities in Mississippi.”
Our association is very thankful for and proud of our certificate of recognition, and we are also incredibly proud of Raphael McClain, an 18 year-old Starkville High School student and corner back for the Yellow Jackets football team, who received the 2013 Edward A. May Memorial Scholarship given by the Mississippi Rural Water Association. This will help him financially as he moves to Senatobia, MS to begin his college career at Northwest Mississippi Community College, where he will be joining the football team.
Clayton Village Water Association is also pleased that we received an overall capacity rating of 5.0/5.0, meaning we received all 5’s for in the categories of Technical, Managerial, and Financial in our MS Rural Water Association annual inspection, which is completed by the Mississippi State Department of Health. We continuously strive to do our best every day and Clayton Village Water Association, and we are proud that our hard work has paid off. We would like to thank our board of directors, office staff, office manager, operator, maintenance worker, and members for making our success possible. We would also like to give a special thank Cliff Russell, USDA Rural Area Specialist, for nominating our association for the award we received.
