Clayton Home Building Group Adds To Portfolio

Maryville, TN., April 8, 2016 — The Clayton home building group announces the acquisition of home builder River Birch Homes, based in Hackleburg, AL. The purchase includes all operating assets and is effective immediately.

River Birch Homes celebrates its 20th year of business next year, originally opening in 1997 under owners Delmo Payne and Gerald Terrell. The pair combined their collective 75 years of experience in the manufactured housing industry, dedicating their brand to “providing a quality home, priced competitively, with good service after the sale.”

Owner Delmo Payne says of his company, “since day one, our motto has always been: ‘Q. V. S.’ – quality, value and service. We build a quality house, price it competitively and provide professional service after the sale. All three are equally important to earn business year after year.”

“We are tremendously excited about adding the River Birch facility to our Family of Brands,” states Keith Holdbrooks, President of the Clayton home building group. “The State of Alabama is a very special place to me and our company. We are thrilled to become members of the Hackleburg community. Delmo and Gerald have done an excellent job in creating a solid brand with River Birch Homes and we look to continue the good work they have already started.”

River Birch currently offers single and multi-section homes and markets in nine states throughout the Southeast. The facility employs nearly 240 Team Members from in and around the Hackleburg community. Payne says he is looking forward to the next chapter for his company.

“It gives me a great sense of pride,” he stated. “To have a company as strong as Clayton take an interest in us and ultimately decide to move forward, it’s the seal of approval. They’re a family-oriented business with values that mirror ours and I am honored to have River Birch Homes be a part of that Clayton Family. It means a lot to the Hackleburg community as well. This is a company that really cares about its people and the communities they work in. That was important to me.”

The facility becomes the 37th active facility for the Maryville, TN. based Clayton home building group.
