Clean-Up Efforts Underway After Tornado Hits

AMORY, Miss. (WCBI)- On Tuesday, crews and volunteers were hard at work, picking up debris left behind from the Memorial Day tornado.

Governor Phil Bryant, and several State Emergency Management Officials toured some of the hardest hit areas this afternoon.

Brad Blalock, the Mayor of Amory,  says a strong show of support from the community has made a huge difference.

“Those that couldn’t help with chainsaws were out passing water and sack lunches,” Blalock said. “Local bank, community bank provided a meal last night for all the workers so it’s been very uplifting to see the support of the community.”

First Baptist Church is continuing to provide food to first responders, and those affected by the tornado.
