CMSD Appointment

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The City of Columbus is set to make its yearly appointment to the Columbus Municipal School District’s Board of Trustees Tuesday.

The five year term will be for the seat of current board president Tommy Prude whose term ends March 2nd.

Prude has reapplied for the seat and is one of four applicants for the position.

The others include Reverend James Samuel, Antwann Richardson of Regions Bank and Angela Verdell who is the former city drug court administrator.

Council members will make motions on which candidates they would like to appoint and must receive a majority vote in order to be approved. In case of a tie Mayor Robert Smith will have the final vote.
