COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — The Columbus Municipal School District Board of Trustees this afternoon received a brief update on a stockpile of unused textbooks the board has been trying to resolve.

Columbus Superintendent Philip Hickman told the board the school received $159,610 in credit from School Book Supply Company after returning a portion of the books which were originally purchased by CMSD interim Superintendent Edna McGill.

The more than $500,000 original book purchase was made prior to the district’s conversion to the McGraw Hill curriculum in July.

Hickman said not all the books were returned, and added he intends to incorporate some into the high school curriculum.
