COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Some historic markers that pay tribute to national and community service and the history of the Magnolia Bowl in Columbus will be preserved.

The Columbus Municipal School District board voted today to take down the markers and preserve them to be put up somewhere else in the future. Two belong to the Daughters of the American Revolution, and pay tribute to the nation’s veterans. Another notes the history of the bowl, which was built as a WPA project during the Depression and went on to become a vital part of Columbus high school football legacy.

The south wall, press box and locker room will be torn down soon.
