Columbus, Amory Police Make Theft Arrests

(WCBI) – Police in Columbus and Amory hope they have cleared some theft cases in their towns.

An Amory man is back behind bars charged with breaking into multiple cars in the city.

Bond is set at 20 thousand dollars for Walter Lee Buckner after Amory Police linked him to at least two car break ins in the city. Detectives discovered several items in Buckner’s possession when he was arrested. He was already out on bond for another car burglary. Police suspect he may also be linked to some other unsolved cases.

In Columbus 43-year-old Tim Sides was charged with grand larceny after some metal shaker equipment he tried to sell for scrap at a local metals dealer turned out to be stolen. The owner of the business where the items were stolen from happened to be at the metal dealer and recognized the goods. When investigators went to search Sides’ home, they found four weapons. Since Sides has a previous burglary conviction, he was charged with felon in possession of a weapon.
