Columbus, Miss. (WCBI) – Columbus police say a gun wielding man was already facing a felony before he robbed a woman.

Investigators say Dennis Lovelace, 26, he held-up a woman at gunpoint Wednesday night while she was sitting in her car on Forrest Boulevard. He was arrested at his 5th Avenue South home.

Lovelace is charged with armed robbery. His bond was set at $500,000 during an initial court appearance Thursday morning.

CPD says it takes help from the community to make arrests like this possible.

“We are just not going to tolerate that type of behavior. And ask that the citizens continue to be the eyes and ears of the police department, because we know that the police are not able to be everywhere all the time,” said Columbus Police Chief Selvain McQueen.

Lovelace also has a pending aggravated assault charge with CPD.
