COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- Man’s best friend has a new place to frolic in the Friendly City!

The Columbus Bark Park is officially open.

It stands proudly at the back of Propst Park, off Main Street.

One side is for big dogs.

The other is for smaller breeds.

There are tunnels, ramps and even water fountains.

Rules of the park are clearly posted.

Owners are required to clean up after their animals.

The park is free.

You use it at your own risk.

It opens at dawn and closes at dusk.

Dog owner Jeniffer Natalie Ortega says, ” Something definitely Columbus needed, I think, you know, you have to drive all the way to Starkville to go to a dog park like this, so its pretty good to have something local.”

Tupelo and Starkville have similar dog parks.
