LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Just when the turmoil may finally be over, some changes could be coming to the Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The terms of three members of the nine-member CVB board are up in the next three months and at least one of those members says he doesn’t want to be reappointed in February.

Businessman Leon Ellis has told county supervisors he doesn’t want back on the board after serving two years.

The terms of Whirllie Byrd and Nadia Dale both are up in March.

Byrd has been a controversial member of the board since it was restructured three years ago.

Ellis’ position — a four-year term — will be filled by county supervisors while Byrd and Dale are appointed by the Columbus City Council for three-year terms.
