Columbus Man Charged With Armed Robbery And Kidnapping

Columbus, Miss. (WCBI) – A Columbus man out on bond is facing a host of other charges, including kidnapping.

Lemarcus Smith, 28, is charged with possession of a weapon by a felon, armed robbery, and kidnapping.

Columbus police say a female victim told officers Smith was armed with a weapon, robbed her and forced her into a vehicle on Waterworks Road, sometime Tuesday.

She was eventually shoved out of the vehicle on Moss Street.

The unidentified victim called officers after being taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.

She has been treated and released.

Investigators say the two knew each other.

Smith was denied bond. Police say he was out on bond after being indicted for aggravated assault.
