Columbus Man To Remain Jailed

JACKSON, MS – WCBI – The State Court of Appeals has turned back a Columbus man’s bid to get out of prison.

Antonio Burgin is currently serving a 23 year sentence after pleading guilty to armed robbery of a Columbus store.  Burgin and the store clerk were both shot during the 20 10 holdup.  In his appeal, Burgin claimed he was not aware of the charge he was pleading guilty to and the possible sentence.  The Court of Appeals denied that claim citing three different times in court where Burgin told the judge he was aware of the charge and possible sentence.
