Columbus Police Make Assault Arrests

FROM THE COLUMBUS POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Columbus Police Department press release is as follows:

1. Johnny Demarcus Hunter, B/M, Arrested 10-31-13 for Aggravated Assault

This incident occurred September 18, 2013 where Hunter assaulted the victim, with an object, causing injuries to his face. This case is still under investigation.

2. Joanne Pitts, W/F, Arrested 11-03-13 for DUI-1st Offense, Poss. Of Marijuana in a vehicle and Poss. Of Methamphetamine

Officers responded to the intersection of 5th Street South and 7th Avenue in reference to a female that was slumped over the steering wheel of a car. Once on scene, Officers spoke with the complainant. The complainant said he was traveling on 5th Street and saw a car with a white female that appeared to be asleep behind the wheel. Officers looked inside a 2 door Honda Civic, and saw a white female sitting in the driver seat and appeared to be leaning over the steering wheel. The vehicle was sitting in the middle of the road with the engine still running. Officers noticed what appeared to be an odor of intoxicating beverage on the driver’s person. Officers found a small purple zip bag inside Pitts purse that contained a small clear bag with possible marijuana. Officers also said there was also a small clear plastic bag containing small clear rocks inside it. Suspect was arrested and transported to L.C.A.D.C.

3. Timothy Williams, B/M, Arrested 11-03-13 for Assault on a Police Officer, Leaving the scene of an accident, Fleeing and Eluding, Reckless driving, No D.L., Disobeying traffic control device, speeding, Malicious Mischief, Resisting Arrest, Failure to yield to emergency vehicle, Threatening a Police officer and Disorderly conduct.

On Sunday, November 3, 2013, Officers responded to the area of 500 block of 20th St. North in reference to two calls of shots being fired in the area. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspect wouldn’t stop. The driver struck a patrol car and kept fleeing. Williams exited the vehicle and a foot chase pursued. Williams was captured and detained. This case is still under investigation.
