Columbus Police Make Statutory Rape, Burglary Arrests

COLUMBUS, Miss. (Police Press release) — On Thursday, January 30, 2015 , Columbus Police investigators were called to the Baptist Memorial Hospital in reference to a sexual assault.

Further investigation led to the arrest of 41-year-old Eddie Lee Porter at his home at 1420 11th Ave. N., on Monday, February 02, 2015. Porter is being charged with Statutory Rape.

Porter is being held at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center and bond has been set at $5,00.

On February 2  at approximately 12:22 a.m., Columbus Police received a report of a person attempting to break into a  home on 7th Street North in Columbus.  The suspect, 42-year-old Anthony Joe Calloway of 1119 20th St. N., was detained in close proximity to the crime.

Calloway was identified as the person trying to burglarize the home and Investigators charged him with Attempt to Commit Burglary. Bond was set for $15,000.
