Video: Columbus Redistricting Plan Clears Review

[bitsontherun k9Lp11wz]COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — The Justice Department has signed off on Columbus’ new city council districts.

The city received a letter this week saying barring any unforeseen action or new information, the six new districts would be formally cleared by the end of this month and can be used for next spring’s city elections.

The plan keeps roughly the same black-white majorities that exist in the current districts.

The plan makes no changes in Districts 1 and 2 and moves some voters from District 3 to District 4 and some from District 6 to District 5 to balance out the population in each ward.
