Columbus Store Robbed

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A man reportedly took off with a cash register and fired a shot at a store clerk on Tuesday night in Columbus.

Now, Columbus police are looking for the robber.

Officers were called to LZ Grocery and Deli in the 1700 block of 10th Avenue North, just after 10:30 P.M. The clerk told police he was in the rear of the store and returned to the front to find a man dressed in all black trying to get the cash register.

The bandit fired a shot at the clerk, grabbed the register and fled.

A roll of what appeared to be cash register paper was found about a block from the store but the register has not been recovered.
