COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — With hundreds of lights and dozens of decorations, Columbus’ city Christmas tree will be ready for Friday night’s lighting.

Crews from Glenn Machine Works and Rigging and Columbus Public Works cut and erected a 40-foot cedar today on the greenspace next to the Tennessee Williams Welcome Center.

The Main Street Decorating Committee will do the rest this week.

The official tree lighting is set for 6 Friday night during the annual Main Street Wassail Fest celebration.

The tree came from the Callaway farm in the Prairie area of western Lowndes County.
