Community Unity in West Point
WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – West Point and Clay County residents come together to discuss unity in their community.
Scores of people packed the Growth Alliance conference room Thursday (2-7) .
“Unity in the Community” aims to forge friendships and relationships one neighborhood at a time.
One of the speakers at Thursday night’s gathering feels that improving racial relations in the community is key to economic and educational success.
Leroy Clemons says, ” One of the most important reasons why the community needs to come together across racial line is because it affects the economy. I mean, great schools, you’ve got great schools, you draw business.”
Clemons is the director of community relations for the William Winter Institute for Racial Reconciliation at Ole Miss.
