STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Some of the state’s future politicians got to listen to a special guest at Mississippi State University.

Representative Bennie Thompson – who’s with Mississippi’s 2nd District – spoke to MSU students and community leaders Monday about his work in Congress.

He talked about several homeland security issues, and federal disaster relief following Hurricane Katrina.

Thompson tells WCBI he was honored to speak to students and share advice.

“To help our young people here, get them involved in the community to make sure that we prepare them for the future,” he said. “I am one of those individuals who was educated in Mississippi and never left.”

Thompson holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Tougaloo College and Jackson State University.
