Corinth Man Charged with Firearm and Drug Charges

CORINTH, Miss. (WCBI) — A Corinth man finds his place in a prison cell after being arrested today on firearm and drug charges.

Alcorn County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 40-year-old Corinth man Michael Christian Lawton early this morning following a traffic stop.

The reason for the initial traffic stop was unknown at the time of this post.

A consensual search conducted by deputies of Lawton’s black Ford Explorer led to the discovery of a handgun and a quantity of methamphetamine with an estimated $2,800 street value. The meth was reportedly hidden in a fake tire foam can on the floor by Lawton.

Lawton was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and felony possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell.
