Corinth Man Pleads Guilty to Murder, Arson

CORINTH, Miss. (WCBI) — A Corinth man arrested in connection with the deaths of two Corinth brothers received a life sentence today.

28-year-old Sirdon Greer pleaded guilty to two counts of murder and one count of arson in the Feb. 13 deaths of 67-year-old James Copeland and 64-year-old Jerry Copeland.

The two men were found with gunshot wounds to the head when their bodies were recovered after a blaze struck their home on Second Street in Corinth.

Alcorn County Circuit Court Judge Jim Pounds sentenced Greer to two life sentences on the murder charges, and 20 years on the arson charge, with 10 years suspended.

Greer was also sentenced to 10 years for an escape and larceny charge.

Greer has been in jail since February, and has been unable to post his $1.2 million bond which was set in March.
