Corinth Officer Shoots Gun-Wielding Suspect

CORINTH POLICE PRESS RELEASE

CORINTH, Miss. — At approximately 9:43 p.m. on January 9, 2014, Corinth Police Department responded to a call of a man with a gun who forced his way in a house on Allen Street.

Upon officers’ arrival, the suspect had already fled the scene. Officers then immediately relocated to the suspect’s residence to make a felony arrest.

The suspect jerked open the door with a handgun pointed at the officer.

At approximately 10:15 p.m., Corinth Police Department officer discharged his duty weapon at the suspect, striking the suspect.

The suspect was transported to Magnolia Regional Health Center via EMS.

Mississippi Bureau of Investigation was immediately contacted by Chief David Lancaster to handle the investigation.

The Mississippi Crime Lab processed the Crime Scene

No officer was injured.

The officer involved will be on routine administrative leave during the investigation.

MBI will continue all further investigation. As more information becomes available, Chief David Lancaster or a representative of MBI will release any further updates.
