COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Lowndes County hopes a freshly cleared lot on a busy Columbus street will attract some buyers.

The county recently demolished the old health department building on Military Road at 12th Avenue North and plans to try to sell the 1.1-acre lot again. The county tried to sell it 18 months ago when the building was still on the lot but go no takers.

County Administrator Ralph Billingsley will discuss possible sale options and potential prices with area real estate professionals and recommend the best approach for trying to sell it.

The property is surrounded by both commercial and residential zoning and county officials hope the location on Military Road will increase interest.
