Court Of Appeals Denies Lowndes County Appeal

JACKSON, MS (WCBI) –  The Mississippi Court of Appeals says a Lowndes County man will stay jailed for assaulting a Columbus policeman.

Marvin Kyles pleaded guilty to the August 2012 attack but now says he only entered the plea because his lawyer did not explain his options.  The high court says its review of the plea shows Kyles was fully aware of what he was pleading to and waived his right to a speedy trial.  That is what Kyles was basing his appeal on.   Kyles is currently serving a ten year prison term.
