Crimestoppers Offers Reward In Elephant Shooting

Crime Stoppers of Northeast MS. and Tupelo Police Department need help in identifying a shooter involved in a drive shooting at the BanCorpSouth Center.

On 04-09-13, at approx. 0210 hrs, persons or persons unknown did shoot Carol, the 39 years of age Asian elephant, belonging to the Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus. The elephant was enclosed on the grounds of the BanCorpSouth Center, at the time of the incident. A Silver, or White, Ford Explorer was seen in the immediate area, at the time of the shooting.

An additional $20,250 in rewards is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.

5,000 – PETA

5,000 – US Fish and Wildlife Service

10,000 – Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus

$250 – Travis Childress 1st District
