COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- Columbus-Lowndes Convention and Visitor’s Bureau board members will now be bound by an ethics policy. Board members approved a policy code stating that no elected official CVB board member, employee or relative can request or receive any public funds from the organization. Executive Director Nancy Carpenter believes the policy change was long overdue.

“We’re starting here with an ethics policy to make certain that we do conduct our business in an ethical way to make sure there’s no conflict of interest and this is very common in the business world.  You sign an agreement stating that you have no conflict in doing business as a director of the CVB or the director of a bank,” said Carpenter.

The change comes after the CVB removed Harvey Myrick from the board due to a conflict of interest concerning the Grilling on the River festival.
