Death Row Appeal Denied

A Union County man’s attempt to leave Mississippi’s death row is turned back again.
The state supreme court today denied Marlon Howells request for a rehearing of his unsuccessful appeal.  Back in October the justices ruled Howell was fairly  convicted and sentenced to death for the 2000 slaying of newspaper carrier David Pernell . Pernell was attacked as he made his pre dawn deliveries in New Albany.   Howell can now turn to the federal courts for further appeals of the case.
