Death Row Inmate Gets Evidence Hearing

A Lowndes County man on death row will get the chance to prove his innocence.
The Mississippi  Supreme Court today agreed that Eddie Lee Howard should get the chance to prove to a judge that new D-N-A evidence be allowed in his case.  Howard was convicted and sentenced to die for  the 1992 murder of Georgia Kemp of Columbus.  Following that conviction, evidence of D-N-A other than Howard’s at the crime scene was discovered.  The Supreme Court today ordered Lowndes County to set a hearing which will allow Howard to ask for a new trial in his case.
