Deer Accident Claims Two Teens, Injures Four Others

Two Calhoun county teenagers are dead after a one car accident in Big Creek Saturday night.

Thomas “Tripp” Macon, 16, of Calhoun City, and Caylee Leachman, 19,  of Bruce, were pronounced dead at the scene.

They were passengers in a carload of seven teenagers traveling west on CR 308 in a Chevrolet Tahoe. Their vehicle struck a deer around 8:20 p.m., according to Sheriff Greg Pollan. He said the vehicle left the right side of the road, flipped end over end going 50-75 yards landing about 15 feet under a bridge.

Three females were airlifted and another female was transported by ambulance to the hospital and later transferred to Le Bonheur.

Sheriff Pollan said this morning that the  female who was airlifted to Regional Medical Center in Memphis is on her way home.

Two others remain hospitalized at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Another male was not injured, according to Sheriff Pollan.
