Degree Increase Sign of MUW’s Growth, Future: Borsig

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — The university’s top advocate gets another chance to spread some more good news about what he calls the jewel of Mississippi’s university system.

MUW President Doctor Jim Borsig says a combination of renovations of campus buildings, high national rankings for some of its programs and efforts by faculty and students are bringing a new feel to the historic campus.

And that feel is translating into more students and even better, more students staying and graduating. And that stretches beyond just its top-ranked nursing and education programs.

“We have really had a significant increase in completing degrees. We’ve had an 86 percent jump in baccalaureate degrees since 2008 and I think that’s a testament to the work of our faculty and staff; it’s also a testament to our students,” Borsig told the Columbus Rotary Club Tuesday.
