COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Columbus Police arrest two men, one of whom is believed to be the man who shot at a Columbus officer Tuesday afternoon.

The officer pulled over a suspected drunk driver, near 17th street and 8th avenue north. When the officer got out of the car, a black male dressed in dark clothing fired at the officer from about a block away.

Police found clothing that matched what the shooter was wearing, and believed he was hiding in an empty house near Railroad and Ash Streets. That turned out not to be the case. They were instead hiding out at a home on the 1100 Block of Ash St. After two hours of hiding out, authorities finally stormed the home and arrested the two men.

A command center was set up, and evidence was gathered at the scene. The names of the two suspects have not yet been released.
