LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – DNA tests confirm bones found in a burned out barrel behind a Lowndes County house are that of Manuel Vasquez.

Vasquez disappeared in late June after returning home from a trip to Texas.

Investigators spent days at the Windchase Drive home searching for evidence.

Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant says human remains were found outside the home.

The remains were put in a container and burned, then spread throughout the property.

Vasquez’s wife, Christina Martinez, and his mother-in-law, Lydia Martinez, are both charged with murder.

They have been in jail for months on a five hundred thousand dollar bond.

This case will go before the grand jury this term, which is currently in session.

Merchant says DNA was used from Vasquez’s mother, Mary.
