SULLIGENT, Al. ( WCBI) — It’s been 9 months since a fire tore through downtown Sulligent, destroying two buildings.

The damage left from the flames can still be seen, but the damage left from the flames can stilll be seen. The lot has now been cleared and remains empty.

Sulligent Mayor Scott Boman says the vacant lot is for sale, and one building that was damaged has a new owner.

He says losing any infrustructure in a small town can hit the economy hard.

“Anytime that you lose a building, you obviously take a blow for that, cause there’s only so much space as you said. So we were sad to lose those buildings and a lot of history with them, as well from the age of the facilities. But we just have to get a plan together to get something rebuilt there that will be even better,” says Boman.
