Dr. Pamela Lacy to Give Commencement Address for MUW Summer Graduates

Dr. Pamela Lacy to keynote The W’s August graduation ceremony

COLUMBUS, Miss. – Dr. Pamela Lacy, a Columbus obstetrician/gynecologist with Physicians and Surgeons Clinic, will keynote Mississippi University for Women’s Saturday, Aug. 1 graduation ceremony at 10 a.m. in Rent Auditorium, Whitfield Hall.

Approximately 200 participants are expected to walk in the weekend commencement.

Dr. Lacy is medical director of obstetrics and chairperson of the Department of OB/GYN at Baptist GTR Hospital. She helped lead the local hospital campaign to decrease the number of babies born prior to 39 weeks that was initiated by the March of Dimes. She also has been instrumental in changing the labor and delivery culture to be more family-oriented and to encourage breastfeeding. Dr. Lacy is on the Board of Directors of Save-A-Life in Amory, and she is a medical expert on the local television show, Mid-Morning with Aundrea.

Lacy and her husband, Leroy, recently opened a maternity store called Mom 2 Be in Columbus to help meet the needs of pregnant women within the community. She also goes on annual mission trips with Fairview Baptist Church to the Dominican Republic and Haiti to offer medical services to the less fortunate.

She grew up in Columbus and graduated from Stephen D. Lee High School. She received her bachelor of science degree in pre-med/biology from Mississippi State University in Starkville. She earned her doctorate from MCP-Hahnemann School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pa.  Dr. Lacy completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Texas Southwestern, Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. In 2006, Dr. Lacy joined Physicians and Surgeons Clinic and is now a full partner.

Dr. Lacy and her husband have an 8-year-old daughter, Jaden.
